Devlog 10: Polishing Gregg
Hello, hello , hello and welcome again to our weekly Devlog This week we have started the polish sprint so we can deliver you Gregg in his best possible form.
ART
In the art department this week we have started polishing and adding quite a few things.
First of which is a death animation which which appears whenever one of greggs die and transcend the mortal plane if that is even possible for a demon,
We have also started working on getting hit animation which will be ready for your eyes next week.
The control sheet was reworked based on the obtained feedback. The original was a wee bit cramped and chaotic so we made it wider and more readable.
Player UI also went throúgh some changes as compared to other UI elements it felt flat and uninteresting so we spiced it up with the elements of our logo and character.
VFX
In vfx we have quite a few new additions.
A new blood/hit effect,new and updated speedlines for when the player is zooming and smoke that puffs up while walking around.
And we also have this cool new ripple effect check it out
Level
In the level we have a really cool addition of glowy moss moss that helps the readability of of our platforms
PROGRAMMING
This week We added a short timer at the start of the round so it is clear that the game is going to begin.
We also made sure that the slow fields that are still active get destroyed at restart and also fixed the infinite loop in the join screen by clearing the used color array at restart.
We have fixed a bug that the scores of the 3th and 4th players weren't showing in the points screen. Then we also made it possible again to start the game in the join menu because the fight button didn't work.
We also worked on fixing a bug where the pickups would stop spawning after one spawned on top of a player but it is possible the bug is still in the game.
This week We linked the beam effect on player spawn.
Wehave also worked on spawning a temporary character to play the death sound and animation.
And we added some visual changes like player arrow changes with color, grapple spawns centered and spawns behind the player,Changed the respawn function to pick a random spawn if there's collision on the usual one. and the pickups above the head are bigger so you can see them better.
